Vital to the exchange of building information is the consistent definition and use of material, products, equipment, and assemblies. The Specifiers' Properties Information Exchange (SPie) project's goal is to define minimum property sets for building model objects. The Construction Specifications Institute and the Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP) are leading this project to extend and cross reference the OmniClass product and properties tables. Manufacturers and manufacturers associations such as the National Electrical Manufacturing Association are directly participating in the project.

This session will introduce the Model View Definition needed to implement this information exchange, provide demonstrations of commercial software implementations, and welcome the product manufacturers who are providing building information on their products conforming to SPie.
